Golf Mentoring Program
- What are Golf Mentoring Teams?
Golf Mentoring Teams consist of approximately 10 kids from the same organization and 10 volunteer mentors. Each youth will be paired with one volunteer mentor to establish a one to one relationship The group will meet weekly at a driving range for 1 hour for 9 consecutive weeks. They will receive instruction and be able to practice the learned skills of that day during each session. During the seventh week there will be an additional session at the golf course to allow the kids and mentors to play 9 holes. A recognition dinner will follow the golf course outing.
- How do Golf Mentoring Teams benefit the kids?
Many of the kids associated with golf mentoring teams have never played golf before and many of them would not otherwise have the opportunity to play the game. This program gives kids an opportunity to learn about this increasingly popular sport. Not only will the kids be learning the skills of golf from a teaching professional, but they will also learn many life skills as well. Golf is a game that stresses self-discipline, self-control, patience, practice, and respect for others.
